Rockmelons
produce the soundtrack of summer
The
complexity and tightness of 'Rockies three' makes
earlier Aria award wining Rockmelons releases look
like practise.
Flanked
by the usual comeback album anxiety 'Rockies 3'
serves up a delicious assortment of sultry grooves
that are as much funky Dance as they are dancy Funk.
'The
album is very eclectic' explains Rockmelon Jonathon
Jones 'It has influences that range from R&B, pop
and dance. We didn't necessarily set out for the
album to be so broad, but that's what happens when
we get music together for a project. Our approach
to making an album tends just to unfold without
any boundaries of a plan. Essentially we just shoot
for soul…'
And
this time they have landed right on target. With
guest vocals reading like the who's who of new Australian
talent the album offers an inconsistency, which
can only be rewarded.
The
first single of the album, 'All I want is you' was
an instant club hit, a boppy dance track with smooth
soul-style vocals provided by Jeremy. Also featured
on the album are the sugar-sweet musings of Roxanne
LeBrasse and the deep rumblings of jazz artist Darren
Paul.
Funkadelic
melodies, neat hip-hop laced tunes and disco-dance
tracks demonstrate the unique sound that the Rockmelons
have finetuned over nearly two decades in the business.
In essence, 'Rockies 3' is a sweet tasting delight
sure to shine in the summer dance scene.
