A
band renowned for their crazed live antics and controversial
wit, are that of Melbourne band, Tism. With a career
spaning over fifteen years, the guys have seen their
fair share of success and neglect within the music
industry. 'Machiavelli and the Four Seasons' hit
the National Top 10 in 1995, and scored two tracks
in the Hottest 100 later that year. Yet somehow
since then all their releases have failed to reach
any such level of success. But whether commercial
hits or not, Tism remain one of Australia's greatest
creations, with 'Best Of' only able to reflect the
bands positive charms.
For
the past decade Tism have been hailed as one of
Australia's greatest live acts. Their distinctive
shock tactics and hilarious stage props and antics
have always thrilled and excited Australian audiences.
'Best Of', collaborates their greatest achievements
to date, capturing much of the same energy and excitement
as seen on the live front.
This truly applaudable collection of tracks is must
have for all Australian households. If you carry
an inch of humour or just an admiration for the
witty, Tism are sure to entertain, right through
til the 18th track. Not only is 'Best Of', extremely
satisfying, but it cuts the junk that tends to appear
in previous and lengthy releases. Leaving only the
classics such as "(He'll Never Be An) Ol' Man River",
"Greg The Stop Sign" and "Whatareya", you'll be
sure to reminisce of your flavoured 95' sense of
humour.
Anyone
who has experienced a Tism offering, would be able
to recognise the pure shock and sweltering fits
of laughter it can often bring. This latest release,
follows much the same mark, except this time round
hosts the stuff we all know and love. For anyone
unfamiliar with Tism, you're really missing out.
These masters of comedic pop rock have remained
unappreciated for most of their career and far too
crude for commercial airwaves. 'Best Of", is a classic
overview of their history in the Oz rock scene,
demonstrating their ability to entertain and offend
the pants off everyone.
Understanding
Tism's rants and raves can grow old if looking to
purchase their entire 10+ back catalogue of CD's.
So thankfully this LP is jam-packed full of undeniable
classics, leaving you more than satisfied by the
end of your listen. 'Best Of' is defiantly a most
recommended and worthwhile experience. So try out
the Tism mentality today, you'll be better for it,
even you're wallet would agree.
