A
CD was sitting on my desk for a few days before
I decided to give it a first listen. I hadn't heard
of Fourth Floor Collapse, I wasn't expecting too
much. However, after one listen to Half Desert Streets
I was wondering why I wasn't told about these guys
a long time ago.
The album is moody, atmospheric & hauntingly
beautiful in places. The third track Risk
is brilliant, it has a real anthemic feel about
it. Michael Miller (vocalist) does try to sound
a little too much like Thom Yorke (Radiohead) in
places, but I don't have too much of a problem with
that. Musically the band sound like Elliot, Muse,
Radiohead & Powderfinger all rolled into one.
Get Up Again is another standout track, along
with Another Rush. On the later mentioned
track, the passion and feeling shining through is
reminiscent of early U2 material.
Made Believe is starting to gain some airplay
on Triple J, so I'm sure it won't be too long before
Forth Floor Collapse start climbing up the Oz Music
ladder. Highly recommended!
