The
fourth single from the Brisbane band's hugely-popular
debut album Polyserena, "Breaking It Slowly" is
well-representative of the george sound. Opening
with the most minimal of keyboards, the song gradually
gathers momentum and hits full pace at the chorus.
Tyrone Noonan provides the most sublime, Jeff Buckley-esque
vocal and it is this which is truly the track's
highlight. The rest of the band back his voice perfectly,
and as a unit they prove that they are completely
in-tune with one another, and are more than deserving
of their reputation for producing incredible music.
The
b-sides on this release consist of an acoustic track
called "Real", recorded during the album sessions,
a piano-based rendition of "Breathe In Now", and
two live cuts, one from Perth's Eclectic Festival,
and another from george's Triple J "Live At The
Wireless" performance.
"Breaking
It Slowly" is seductive in every way, and sees the
band deliver yet another beautiful, stirring piece
of sound to their ever-growing fanbase.
