The
second single from Shoot This - Motor Ace's new
album that debuted on the charts at #1, and went
gold in it's first week - is a bit of a departure
from the band's previous sound. The catchy chorus
and warm guitars are still there, but Pat and the
guys have backed off on the rock assault in favour
of a slightly less potent (albeit catchy as hell)
tune. An instantly appealing and swaying verse leads
into a chorus made for singalongs, and whilst radio
overkill could become this song's downfall, it is
sure to gain them some new fans without losing any
old ones.
Both
b-sides are typical of the Motor Ace sound, and
some of the strongest featured on any of their singles
to date. The fourth track here is a live version
of "Death Defy" taken from the band's 2001 Live
at the Wireless performance, powerful, infectious
and a good indication of the energy present at their
live shows.
It
is worth mentioning that this single has been released
as a limited edition, and features the "Carry On"
video, the live "Death Defy" clip and a screensaver.
If you're even the slightest fan of this band, then
you can't go wrong with this release.
