An
undoubtedly unique 7-piece hailing from Sydney,
Machine Gun Fellatio have never been afraid of pushing
the limits or whipping up controversy. Aside from
all the hoopla, they are a damn fine band, who produce
sounds that could hold their own on any dancefloor.
"Rollercoaster" is a song full of groove which has
attracted a liking of mainstream radio, and whilst
I'm not sure pop-oriented stations are going to
take to other MGF tracks like "Butter My Arse With
A Pigeon" with such vigour, this single (and the
album it is taken from) are sure to see this band
achieve even more attention than they had secured
previously. A funky sound that just begs you to
bust a move, this will no doubt become a staple
at parties across the country.
Whist
"Rollercoaster" is as fine a piece of danceable
pop music as you could get, the real gem on this
release is the acoustic version of "Unsent Letter".
With Loveshark providing the most stripped-back,
clean sound ever seen on any MGF recording, he leaves
room for vocalist Pinky Beecroft to prove to the
world that he is in fact an extremely talented singer.
Backed by The Widow Jones and free from all the
craziness usually associated with the band, this
acoustic cut is pure gold, and every bit as catchy
as the original.
A
rather decorative and groovy take on Olivia Newton-John's
"Let's Get Physical" closes off the single, and
proves that Machine Gun Fellatio are quite the diverse
little outfit indeed.
